Healing is imminent: As much as fever is a sign of sickness and source of pain, it is simultaneously a fight to end illness. I view struggle, pain, and suffering not as pathology that one needs to get rid of at once, but as signs of one’s healing from deeper wounds.

“What we observe is not nature in itself but nature exposed to our method of questioning.”

About Me

I have significant experience in collegiate mental health and working with youth. Clinically, I have experience treating anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, body image concerns and disordered eating, and ADHD. Issues I love working with involve cultural adaptation, spiritual/religious issues, and existential concerns. In addition to seeing a large number of American clients, I am passionate and experienced in working with individuals from Balkan (i.e., Bosnia, Albania, etc. ), Turkish, Turkic, Anatolian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Central Asian (i.e., Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan), South and East Asian regions of the world (I won’t just box all those up in the word: East 🙂). I also welcome ethnic/cultural groups that have historically been oppressed and persecuted in their homeland.

I am a strategic, integrative therapist, approaching therapy from a bottom-up perspective: Your issues, preferences, and goals determine the therapy approach and technique. My foundation is psychodynamic, developmental, and existential as I believe past relationships, early developmental issues, and existential crises are often the origins of one’s suffering. I often meet you where you’re and offer genuine validation while working with you in tapping into hidden sources of motivation, hope, and self-empowerment. I often draw from ACT, DBT, CBT and use them pragmatically when they fit your style and issues. You’ll see me often incorporating neurobiology and biological science to help you make sense of your issues from a somatic perspective as well.

I am continuing my training to soon become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). I am trained in EMDR and able to incorporate this trauma informed approach in your healing. I am also trained and experienced in couples therapy.

I received my doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in counseling psychology from Cleveland State University and am a fully licensed psychologist in the state of Michigan.
